The National Capital Authority (NCA) wishes to advise that it plans to conduct a control burn of woodland on Stirling Ridge, Stirling Park, Yarralumla, during autumn 2017.
Weather permitting, on Saturday 13 May 2017, experienced fire fighters from the ACT Rural Fire Service will conduct the burning operation to reduce fuel loads, promote native grass growth, and reduce exotic weed species.
The control burn will cause some smoke in the area.
ACT Health advises that people with asthma and other chronic respiratory diseases should not perform vigorous exercise and should stay inside if affected by the smoke. People with asthma in particular should continue their medication and consult their general practitioner if they have any difficulties.
Additional information will be published on the NCA website – www.nationalcapital.gov.au.
